Homecoming Week in the Wilmington City School District will be September 29 - October 3rd. One of our favorite activities (for parents and students alike) is the building of our Holmes Elementary Homecoming Float. We work on the float build/design for a few days and then showcase it in the annual Homecoming Parade. This year's Homecoming theme is Rock & Roll, which can mean any style of Rock music through the decades. Details about float building location will be in the school newsletter but mark your calendars - float building will take place between Monday, 9/29 and Wednesday, 10/1, with the parade scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, 10/2. Please start saving your craft supplies for us (paint, chicken wire, tissue paper, poster board, etc.). There will be a "call for supplies" soon as well.

Homecoming Parade will be on Thursday, October 2. All students will need to be dropped off in the Middle School teachers lot at 6 p.m.  Elementary students and youth sports will line up in the Middle School Loop and High School and Middle School will line up in High School lot.  Elementary and Youth Sports are to keep children in the grass area in the middle of the loop, near your float. There is to be no running around or throwing footballs. There will be large vehicles in this area moving around and we don't want anyone hurt. NO ITEMS CAN BE TOSSED FROM FLOATS. This includes candy. At the end of the parade students will return to the high school parking lot for pick up. Please note: Richardson Place is closed to ALL traffic. Thorne Ave from Locust St to Clinton St. is closed to all traffic but parade vehicles. No parking in these areas.
